Landlord vs Tenant

Landlord vs Tenant

A couple of weeks ago, I had this young man walking into my office, he had just been thrown out of his flat by his landlord claiming she wanted to renovate the house.
He was just given a few weeks notice and there was no care where he was going to move.
This got me thinking we as estate agents we most times place too much attention on the tenants, carry out background checks on them to see if they can afford the paying rent, take reference and take deposits to ensure the the landlord is taken care of. Don't get me wrong this is the right thing to do.
I take plenty time to get to know my landlords understand why they are landlords what they intend to get out of it apart from just the investment.
To me the rental business is like a dating site and I act like the match maker ensuring that I match the right tenant to the right landlords.
I have met some landlords that money is not their main motivation, they are willing to take less rent for a tenant that would keep the house in immaculate condition, and the garden is well groomed. Other Landlords don't mind how you keep the house has long has the rent is paid and the deposit covers any renovation that need to be done when the tenants leaves.
As a Morden Estate Agent, we should not only listen to our tenant but also our  landlords ,  I Spend my time knowing my clients motivation, plans and preferred time scale , as well as undertsanding their priorities .
